What is the ECICP?

The ECICP is a joint initiative of the NSW Government Department of Ageing, Disability and Home Care, Department of Education and Training and the Department of Health, in conjunction with the NSW Department of Community Services and the Commonwealth Department of Families, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs, Early Childhood Intervention Australia (ECIA, NSW Chapter) and non-government agencies.

The program aims to coordinate planning and delivery of early childhood intervention services for families who have a child with a disability or developmental delay.

The purpose of the ECICP is to provide a coordinated early childhood intervention service by involving people from health, therapy, education and support services working together with families.

A coordinated approach means:

  • Early identification of children and families who need support
  • Families are given information and choices about available services
  • Services and families plan and work together to meet the needs of the child and family
  • Quality services are provided

The program works through a network of committees, which facilitate communication between families, service providers and policy makers to enable coordination of early childhood intervention services.

Vision Statement

Working towards effective family centred early childhood intervention services that are flexible, accessible, coordinated and reflect best practice standards.
